Fact: Morning sickness can happen any time of day or night, especially in the first trimester.
Myth #2: Spicy food will cause labor.
Fact: There's no scientific proof that spicy foods induce labor. They may cause heartburn though!
Myth #3: All pregnant people "glow."
Fact: Some experience glowing skin — others get acne, rashes, or melasma. Every pregnancy is different.
Myth #4: You shouldn’t take medication when pregnant.
Fact: Some medications are safe — some are not. Always consult a healthcare provider before stopping or starting anything.

Marshall CARES is an outpatient program in Placerville that provides medication-assisted treatment, counseling, and support for people struggling with substance use. Services include help with opioids, alcohol, and other drugs. Most insurances are accepted, and grants are available.
Addiction Medicine (STEPS)
The STEPS program at EDCHC offers medication-assisted treatment and supportive care for people with substance use disorders, including counseling, peer support, and same-day access to services.
EL Dorado Behavioral health
Offers support services for pregnant individuals experiencing substance use, including case management and access to treatment.
Shingle Springs Health & Wellness Center offers medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services to tribal and non-tribal patients. They provide care for all ages, including addiction treatment, women’s health, pediatrics, and specialty services. Sliding scale available.
Phoenix House’s Recovery in Action is a sober living home for women, especially those who are pregnant or parenting. It offers a safe, family-centered space to support recovery, rebuild relationships, and heal alongside others in similar situations.
Barton Health’s substance use program offers outpatient treatment with medication, counseling, and peer support for people with opioid or substance use disorders. It also provides 24/7 overdose care and free naloxone.
